UPDATE: HHS IS TAKING UP LD 2117 IN A WORK SESSION ON JULY 10.

LD 2117 would expand the state’s Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring Program, creating a database of ALL prescriptions given to ALL patients in Maine. This is a wasteful, unnecessary expansion of state government and a MASSIVE invasion of personal and medical privacy.

In addition to the specific drug, DHHS would collect your name, address, birthdate, the prescribed amount and dose of the drug and even whether it’s a new prescription or a refill. A long list of people would be able to access your private prescription information.

This is an overreaching, intrusive program. DHHS has more pressing ways to spend their time and our money.

Contact the  Health and Human Services Committee about LD 2117, An Act To Expand and Rename the Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring Program. This bill had a hearing on March 10, and is scheduled for a work session on July 10, 2020 at 1 p.m.
