MPBP Issues Statement On Mural Decision
West Enfield – Maine People Before Politics executive director Jason Savage issued the following statement today on the U.S District Court’s ruling in favor of the LePage administration in the labor mural lawsuit.
“Hopefully this closes yet another chapter in the history of those who would rather play politics than restore Maine’s promise,” said Savage. “From the beginning, Maine people could see that this lawsuit was not about right and wrong, it was about people who disagreed with the Governor making a political statement. In a statement following the verdict, the plaintiff’s attorney said as much, declaring a public opinion victory.”
Savage offered a bit of advice to other prospective activists regarding this approach, “Perhaps in the future, rather than using Maine taxpayers as their public opinion piggy bank by filing frivolous lawsuits, they can use a more traditional method such as a website or radio & television advertising that won’t tie up precious resources such as state attorneys and Maine courts, and that don’t cost the Maine taxpayers more of their hard-earned money.”
