Press releases, protests and partisan politics, but no ideas or solutions

Today, Maine Democratic leaders held an extremely negative press conference to criticize Governor LePage, and demand he give a “positive” State of the State address.

It’s remarkable that this sort of Orwellian “do as I say, not as I do” behavior passes as acceptable for the Maine media and the people of Maine.

For over a year, we have watched these same lawmakers offer no ideas – just press releases, protests and partisan politics. With this press conference, they’ve laid bare the tactic behind their brand of partisan politics: accusing others of doing exactly what they are doing.

The people of Maine should call on these elected representatives of the PEOPLE OF MAINE – not just one party – to stop with the partisan attacks, the press conferences to criticize and attack others in Augusta, and the protests designed to disrupt the work of the Legislature, and get to work.

The people of Maine don’t want press releases, protests and partisanship. They want ideas, solutions and results.

For a caucus that has done its best mostly just saying “no” for a full year, this may be a tall order, but we’re hopeful that it’s not too late for the Democratic caucus to get on board with efforts to move Maine forward.

The writing is on the wall, if Maine people wanted to continue down the same path they were on through 2010, more than 80% of voters would not have voted against the standard bearer of continuing the status quo in the last Gubernatorial election.

P.S. We’ve been searching far and wide for ideas from the now-minority caucus Leadership that would help move Maine forward, but our search is not yielding much.

Can you help us?

If you find an idea that can move Maine forward that has been presented by these Legislators, and it does not involve spending money we don’t have, raising taxes, increasing our debt or adding layers of regulations or new government programs, could you let us know?
